A jump rope in my opinion is essential to home workouts. They are cheap, require little storage space and perfect for traveling, which I’ll be doing soon! Yep we’ve booked a little vacation time in the RV so I’ll be grabbing some of my go-to fitness equipment for traveling which will include a jump rope for some moderate to high intensity cardio, aside from hiking and cycling. Got to burn the beer calories off somehow! I was invited to try this Speedy jump rope by Our Fit Planet in exchange for a review and I’m ALL about reviewing fitness stuff so why not?
So straight out the box you get a carry bag, speed jump rope and postcard. I really liked the fact that this came with the carry bag. Makes it perfect for travel. The postcard was a nice touch. On the back is a series of workouts featuring jump rope and exercises like pushups and crunches. Makes it super easy for on-the-go workouts. Also included on the postcard were instructions on adjusting the jump rope. A simple process just untwist the screw put it where you need it and retighten. You can snip the wire off but I chose to keep it on for now till I’m 100% sure it’s just ME using it 😉 The handles weren’t hollow like a lot of other speed jump ropes which made them a tad heavier (but still uber light).
The handles though a tiny bit heavier still rotated nicely without much effort. It was easy to jump rope without throwing my arms around. The “rope” itself was lighter than other jump ropes I’ve tried and more flexible, again making it perfect for traveling.
One negative of the Speedy jump rope is that it didn’t have a ball bearing at the handle-rope attachment, there is just a hole for the wire to thread through. I’ve found those with the ball bearing here are more smooth, require less effort and just have a more pleasant feel to them while jumping. However, the ones with the ball bearing are slightly more expensive.
All in all for the price this is a great jump rope. If I could change one thing I’d love a ball bearing at the handle hole. I’m probably going to take this one on our RV vacation to the Lake and leave it in there till next time. I’d love to have a small workout kit in the RV ready to go at anytime. The carry bag and workout card make that a definite possibility!
