One question I keep getting from friends, family and blog readers is about the intervals workouts on my blog:
I don’t have a timer, how do I know I’m doing the intervals right?
Simple, you download an iPhone app! I’m sure there are apps for other phones but as I have an iPhone I’m more comfortable posting about those. Two free apps I use are Gymboss and Interval Timer. Yes that’s right FREE, no excuses! Download them today and get working out!
GYMBOSS iPhone app
Gymboss is an app I used for a while, then for some reason it broke, but now the new version is out and it works again 🙂 Hurrah. I like the gymboss as it’s pretty easy to use and has no ads. Which for a free app is rare. The only downside with this one is you can’t change your music directly from the app. This app is based on their popular standalone gymboss timer which I’ll be doing a review on later in the month 🙂 Screenshots below
INTERVAL TIMER iPhone app
The app that I used whilst gymboss was out of action was a free app called “interval timer“. This has a kinda generic looking app logo but works really well for a free app! Plus the interval timer has the ability to edit playlist selection directly on the app. Downside: ads! You can buy the ad free version of interval timer for $1.99 which isn’t bad, but personally for the features you get if ads are an issue just download the Gymboss app instead. Another feature of the interval timer is the ability to post your workout to social media sites like facebook and twitter, which if you want everyone to know you just killed a workout then that could be beneficial. This is available on both the free and paid versions of the app. Screenshots below
So NO EXCUSES, download your free iPhone interval app and get busy with one of my workouts!
