Workout of the week – 11/26/2013

November 27, 2013 //  by Di Hickman//  Leave a Comment

Time is off the essence and I want to start using my time more effectively actually WORKOUT OUT rather than spending it editing and uploading videos etc. So I made a decision that considering these facts plus my video camera issues I’m just going to make a graphic for the workouts and post that then take photo’s of the workout when possible and post MY time. This afterall is my fitness blog and journey along with trying to be educational I also want this to be accountability for me. To that end I am posting this weeks workout.

I set my pull up bar up before I left then got changed, put my running shoes on and went! I walked for 5 minutes to warm up a little then went out. I just ran around the street behind us but I got a nice 1 mile loop in around 8:36. I will say it was a challenge to keep going. I really don’t like running, once I get started again I’ll be ok but the act of GETTING OUT is the big factor for me.

After my mile I had a 5 minute walk back home, then set about the 5 rounds for time. Like I said I got my pull up bar out and installed already so I just got straight to it. I have a pull up assistor that I used and I switched grips each set as the bar I have has multiple grips. I did two wide grip sets, one underhand chin up set, narrow grip and a palms parallel set.

I admit that it was tough to complete the whole thing. I did the squats with my ViPR held overhead and my squats were ASS TO GRASS! Full range of movement. The push ups I did hand release crossfit style for two sets and regular push ups for three sets. I like to switch things up a bit as I go 😉 Sit ups were ok, I think my core is getting stronger. I’m trying to prep for using a medicine ball so I’m reaching behind on the way down, and toes as I come up. Doing CXworx 4 times last week definitely helped. I need to get that in 3 times a week really! My time for the timed workout:

Not bad! That’s a little more than 3 minutes a round, though I’m guessing I started out quicker 😉 By the end the push up/pull up section was getting slower for sure! The timed workout combined with the run really is effective, I was hot sweaty mess at the end! Be thankful they haven’t created smellovision via internet yet!

Ok this workout I will revisit in 1 month and see how my time changes. I also want to start running more, we have a race in 12 days!!!!

Let me know if you try the workout and post your time in the comments!
