Unboxing the October Beauty Box

October 31, 2016 //  by Di Hickman//  46 Comments

When you subscribe to a beauty box every month feels a little like it’s your birthday or Christmas. Each month it’s a little surprise showing up at your door. I’ve been subscribing to Vegan Cuts Beauty Box for almost 18 months. Not only do I get to take care of myself and my skin, while look fabulous but, I also get to support companies that promote cruelty free beauty and skincare. To help people make a decision on subscribing I decided to do unboxing posts on my blog and my youtube channel, because I know it helped me making the decision to subscribe, you’re welcome!

*Disclosure: Links in this post may be affiliate links meaning I earn a small commision on sales made through those links. It costs you nothing, but helps support me and my website.

BEAUTY BOX unboxing

So if you’re not familiar with Vegan Cuts they have a subscription service (and online store) where you sign up, and each month you get surprise goodies delivered to your house. They have a monthly beauty box and snack box, plus a new quarterly make-up box. Their subscription rates are as low as $18:50 a month and include free shipping in the U.S. Each beauty box contains 4-7 products of full and deluxe sample size products. All products are cruelty free, most are organic and natural, and contain no parabens. Each box typically runs around $40-$60 in value, so trust me you get more than your money’s worth! So let’s get into the October box unboxing.

beauty box unboxing

Unboxing the October Beauty Box

The October box products total $78.69!!! Whoa Nelly… I’ve done other unboxing posts on my blog and done some YouTube videos (the October unboxing video can be viewed on YouTube now) but I really only promote products I use and I am honest if I don’t like a product. I will tell you that in the 18 months of getting the Vegan Cuts beauty box there have only been three products I’ve been kinda “meh” about. All the rest were 100% HITS! So product #1 in this month’s unboxing…

beauty box unboxing

PRODUCT #1 – CLAY MASK

This October box packs a punch and the first product alone is a big hitter with a full size product worth $64! Yep that’s the price of THREE months subscription right there. This is a rejuvenating clay mask by Palmetto Derma. I’ve said in a previous video that I LOVE clay masks. Seriously they just feel amazing. The clay masks pull out impurities while adding antioxidants and hydration. As I’m almost out of my Valentia Clay Mask (also awesome btw!) I was eager to try this one and it’s SOOO GOOD! Smells amazing, and love that tingly feeling the clay masks give you. This Palmetto Derma mask is a definite HIT for me. One other thing  Two thumbs up and we’re only on the first product.

PRODUCT #2 – LIP GLOSS

Up next is a Vegan Lip Gloss by The All Natural Face. This is in “frosted berries” shade, which is a mauve-tinted lip gloss with a frosted undertone that adds a glossy shimmer. I have to say that before I subscribed to the Vegan Cuts beauty box I wasn’t a fan of lip glosses but over the months I’ve grown to love them, more than lipsticks now honestly. The lip glosses have never dried my lips out, and provide color, shine and FUN. This color is perfect for the daytime and just what my makeup bag was missing since switching to cruelty free. This has a $4.60 value making them super cheap to change to fun colors for every season or occasion!

beauty box unboxing

PRODUCT #3 – Soap

The third product in this month’s unboxing is a handmade soap by Revive Bath & Body. Two hits and then a “meh” from me. It might just be me, but I don’t do well with soaps. While I feel squeaky clean, they totally dry my skin out. Especially more so now that I’m getting older. This one is vegetable based so gentle on skin and I’m willing to give it a go, so I’m packing it for our Hawaii trip next month. Gotta say I do love the marbling of the colors and it does smell wonderful. This is a sample size with a $2.50 value.

beauty box unboxing

PRODUCT #4 – BODY MOISTURIZER

Product number four in this box is a body moisturizer by Juice Beauty. This body cream contains  extracts from green apples, grapes, lemon, aloe, jojobam shea, and borage seed to hydrate, brighten, smooth and nourish the skin. I’ve tried this and it smells delicious, as well as soaks right into my skin. This re-hydration is needed more during the season change for me so the timing is perfect! One thing I love about these boxes is I get to try brands I hadn’t heard of before and Juice Beauty is a new one to me and one I’ll be purchasing more from in future. This is a sample size, perfect for our Hawaii trip or gym bag, and has a $5 value.

beauty box unboxing

PRODUCT #5 – SHAMPOO

Final product in this month’s beauty  box unboxing is a Peppermint and Tea Tree Shampoo by Eden Bodyworks. I could smell this before I opened the box, so minty. The combination of peppermint and tea tree works really well, and no parabens is always a plus! I’ve used the Tea Tree Shampoo from Trader Joes and they give a little tingle to stimulate the scalp and this sample size is gonna be perfect for the gym bag! Again the smell though is just AMAZING, if you use this in the morning in your shower you won’t need coffee to wake you up again. This sample has a $2.50 value.

unboxing

So all in all October’s Vegan Cuts beauty box was a big hit with me. I found a couple of new brands to try, an everyday lip gloss staple and a clay mask that will last me for many weeks/months to come. At just $20 this box is packed every month with cruelty free, natural, and mostly organic products so I know I’m doing my bit to help the animals and environment and looking good in the process. If you curious about the beauty box I’d definitely recommend the Vegan Cuts Beauty Box, their customer service is excellent and you can cancel your monthly subscription at any time.

Plus they now offer gift subscriptions so if you know someone that would appreciate a little cruelty free beauty on their doorstep every month then what a great gift idea! Especially as the holidays are just around the corner!

Questions:

What product in this month’s box would you be most excited about?

Have you used a monthly box subscription?

Are you a soap lover, or prefer body wash like me?

I’ve never heard of this monthly box but it’s amazing! I’m always so worried about my beauty products being cruelty-free and good for my skin and all of these other things, and this box sounds like it’s exactly what I need!

Cruelty free and eco-friendly plus good for your skin! So many chemicals and nasty stuff in todays products! if you wouldn’t eat it why is it on your skin?

I would probably like the moisturizer the most. I love the feeling of smooth, clean skin that comes from using a moisturizer. Plus, my skin is really dry, so this would really help.
