The Color Run – the happiest 5K on the planet

It seems like “theme” races are all the rage lately, mud runs, spartans etc but one run series has exploded onto the race scene and is now th esingle largest event series in the United States, The Color Run has exploded since their debut event, having  have more than tripled their growth, hosting more than 170 events in 30+ countries in 2013. The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality. It’s less about time and finishing first and more about having FUN, something we tend to forget to do as adults. The Color Run is a is a five-kilometer (3.1 miles), un-timed race in which thousands of participants, or “Color Runners”, are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. Because the run is all about run, the focus is on promoting a healthy lifestyle with more than half the participants being first time 5K runners. With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:

  • Wear white at the starting line
  • Finish plastered in color!
