Foam rolling? Nah I Rock’n’Roll
I posted recently to social media that I'd been trying out a new foam roller and whilst we've had a brief 3 week relationship I think I can say that for me, the relationship is definitely one I plan on making long term. Yep I'm in love! If you don't foam roll, now is the time to start. Foam rolling is an important part of any fitness regime, as it releases tight fascia, improves blood flow and relaxes muscles. The foam roller I've been using lately is the RockNRoller by Rocktape. …
Running shorts got no pockets? No problem!
One thing I struggle with since getting an iPhone 6 is having my phone sticking out my pant pockets. I love the bigger phone but damn it's nigh impossible to get that sucker into pockets securely. This is made even more difficult when I want to walk Pixel wearing shorts and a tank with NO POCKETS! Yes I can wear my armband but... tanlines! When it gets into the 90's here the last thing you want is armbands... the less clothing the better ;) So I agreed to review this waist pack by …
Thanksgiving 5k race recap
I really hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving here in the USA, and didn't get trampled in the black friday shopping. Here at Workout With Di central we did something different this thanksgiving and kicked off our day of overeating (and drinking) with a 5k turkey trot. The thanksgiving 5k was organized by Elite Sports Venture County who d a lot of events locally so we were pretty happy to get a 5k on Thanksgiving that was literally a 5 minute drive from our house, less than that really. Despite …
Race Recap: Arroyo Creek 5k 2014
The Arroyo Simi Half Marathon, 10k and 5k was on Sunday and I'd signed us up MONTHS ago (early bird pricing). I really do recommend signing up early for races to get the best deals. We actually run this race last year and I posted my review and results from that race already on my 2013 Arroyo Simi 5k post. The problem this year is that Saturday after race packet pick-up (again at Sports Authority in Westlake, like last year), I started to feel a little unwell :( As you may know I have …

Race Recap: Gator Run 5k 2014
Sometimes you just wake up on race day and don't want to run. That was how Sunday was for me. In hindsight I'd had a busy week or two trying to get back on track after being sick (and missing the April duathlon) and I hadn't run since the Hollywood 5k at the beginning of the month. We woke up at 6am Sunday morning and I just didn't feel like running. I felt fine, but just blah. I really wanted to turn over and sleep in.... but I got out of bed and got ready for the run, which …
Race Recap: Hollywood half marathon, 10k, 5k, 2014
It's race recap time for the Hollywood Half Marathon/10k/5k. I signed up for this as a cyber Monday deal back in 2013 and so though it's been on the schedule planner for a while it definitely crept up on us! April is a tough month with THREE events this month! One thing I liked about this event was the virtual goodie bag. I know some people like the race bags but be honest most of it is full of crap. All fliers for other upcoming races, sponsors and samples of stuff you rarely try. The ONLY good …
Race Recap: The Great Race of Agoura Hills 5k 2014
So today I'm going to recap the race we ran Saturday. Of the four distances offered at this race we opted to do the Deenna Kastor 5k which we did back in 2011. The Great Race is proud to name its 5K after former Agoura High School standout Deena Kastor, who set the 5K WORLD RECORD at 14:54 in 2002. Deena grew up running in The Great Race. She won the bronze medal in the marathon at the 2004 Olympics and holds U.S. records for the 5K, 8K, 10K, 15K, half marathon and marathon. All that …
