Ok going back a ways for today's Meatless Monday restaurant review. In fact all the way back to September (yeah I need to get up to date with reviews huh!). We got a little bored with our usual restaurant haunts and decided to try somewhere new. This place called Vinh Loi Tofu popped up on the map, and we remembered our friend talking about it so we decided to give it a try. Vinh Loi Tofu is located at 18625 Sherman WAy, Reseda, CA, 91335. One thing I LOVE …

Meatless Monday – review: Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourmet Shreds (cheddar)
Wow could that BE a longer title? Anyway today we're going cheesey with Follow Your Heart (or FYH as we like to call it) Vegan Gourmet Shreds, cheddar style. They do a few different styles and I'll be reviewing those soon as we try new flavors and varieties. I've been trying out a few different vegan 'cheeses' and already reviewed the Trader Joes mozzarella shreds so look for more cheesey reviews soon ;) We like eating at the FYH restaurant and I've reviewed that a few times now and …

Meatless Monday – Review – Dr Praegers burgers
This week I thought I'd post a review of vegan basics - the veggie burger. There are a TON of meatless burgers out there and it's a staple in pretty much ALL restaurants these days but not all of them are vegan. Some use egg whites as a binder so if you are newly vegan please make sure to pay attention to the ingredients list or look for the VEGAN symbol on the label. Occasionally I do fancy a burger (bunless) and so I opt for the Dr Praegers California Veggie Burger. I buy mine from …
Race Recap – Say No To Drugs Universal Studios Backlot 5k – 2013 edition
What a weekend!!! Saturday we saw a movie and had dinner at Real Food Daily! Starting with lentil walnut pate, with tofu sour cream, wheat-free rice crackers and crudités Bob had the club sandwich with crispy seitan, tempeh bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and vegenaise on sourdough bread. He couldn't wait and ate one before I took a photo! I opted for the SUPREME BURRITO wet w/ ranchero sauce, Spanish rice, black beans, melted cashew cheese, tempeh bacon, sautéed peppers and onions, …

Meatless Monday – Review: Native Foods Cafe
Back in oh JULY we went to Native Foods after attending the Crossfit Games 2013, and because I'm a slacker I've not gotten around to posting a review yet... so here it is, 5 months AFTER the event. Ah well! Better late that never right? This was our first time at this location in a LONG time and they've completely remodelled it inside. MUCH MUCH MUCH better now. Love it. As we were perusing the menu I wanted to try and stay Gluten Free so as Bob was getting a bear I opted …
Review: Lotus Vegan (2)
It's been a while since my last review of Lotus Vegan restaurant and since then we've been again! I was hesitant to post another review but here we go! I was determined to try something different so I opted to veer away from the combo menu and order a dinner instead. Bob stuck with the old faithful of yellow curry but I wanted something different and boy did I get it! Red Nah! This is the noodle dish Red Nah. It's flat rice noodles with broccoli and house special gravy sauce and …
Review – Doomies (2)
Back at the end of July we were once again downtown Los Angeles at a Bafta movie screening and decided to revisit Doomies. I'd reviewed them previously and was determined to try some different menu items this time! I stated last time that I ate a LOT of wheat at the last Doomies visit and paid the price, so I was determined to eat less wheat this time! Hello LA! This time I ordered an entree and it came with soup or salad. I opted for soup! I forget what it was called but it had mushrooms in …
Review – Follow Your Heart – New menu items!
Today's Meatless Monday focus's on a favorite restaurant of ours Follow Your Heart in Canoga Park. We hadn't been there in a while then suddenly it was our favorite place to go again because of a few new menu items! There has always been a wide selection on the FYH menu from italian and indian to subs, salads and sandwiches; but now they have a whole different vegan attitude with vegan mac'n'cheese, spanakopita and pot pie to name just a few! Prior to this visit I …
Race Recap: Camarillo Duathlon
So Sunday we woke up at the crack of dawn (actually before dawn!) to go to our first duathlon. We left the house at 6:45 am after grabbing some breakfast on our way to Camarillo. We arrived around 7:25 for our race which was due to start at 8:20. Why get there so early? Because the roads would be closed off around 7:30 so we just scraped in under the wire ;) When we parked up we got the bikes off the truck and set them up at the transition area.... this is where we discovered we were part of the …
