Welcome to another Meatless Monday and today I’ll be sharing my review of the Trader Joes Brown Rice Tortillas. Bob takes packed lunch to work everyday and I used to love the olive oil wraps he eats but as they are wheat and I’m avoiding wheat due to bloating when I saw these along with the brown rice bread I figured I’d give them a try!
As you can see the packet holds 6 tortilla wraps and each is around 130 calories. I liked that they were fairly low in fat, and sodium too. Plus bonus, unlike the brown rice bread, these were vegan!
I decided one evening to try these. Bob was working late and sending me pics of his meal out so I figured I’d do the same. I added my hummus, rice, veggies and guacamole and was on my way to a tasty dinner!
Initially the tortilla wrapped really well! Holding the ingredients together and tasted pretty good too! Not like a regular tortilla or wrap but a good alternative.
Then it all fell apart… literally!
First one side split, then the other… the next thing I knew I had a mess on a plate and had to dig out the cutlery to finish my meal! Bob laughed his ass off at this pic I’m sure 😉
Sorry Trader Joes, these gluten free tortillas are another miss for me. The inability to hold anything together is HUGE. I used hummus and guacamole which aren’t that ‘wet’ either. Imagine using sour cream!!! Nightmare! The whole thing would be a soggy mess! I’m still on the lookout for a good gluten free wrap. The journey continues…

TJ’s doesn’t carry these anymore.
Is there any way that I can order them directly, even by the case is fine.
They do not wrap well, but placed in a frypan to brown, they are great loaded open face.

I’m unsure. The one TJ’s carries is basically the same, just rebranded.
