Everyone has a story. To be perfectly honest I've always struggled with opening up and telling my story. Maybe because I'm an only child? Who knows. Honestly, I think it's because I truly just don't know where to start. Do I start with how and why I started my career in fitness? Or the fact that I have a hereditary kidney disease? Maybe I should talk about why we won't be having children? Or maybe how I met my husband, and what made our wedding so special? Where do you start with the story of …

Also links contained in this post may be affiliate links, which means I get a small commision on sales made through those links. It's a great way for you (my workout friends) to support the website and keep me motivated to continue posting. On May 1st 2010 I did my first 5k race. One little word 2016 – Aloha!
Each year I choose a word for the year ahead. Ali Edwards first introduced this concept to me in 2007, and I fully embraced it. As I prepared to write this post declaring my One Little Word for 2016 I suddenly realized it's TEN YEARS of choosing a single word for the year. Wow, time flies. So why choose One Little Word for the year? As Ali says: A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and …
Fitmas Gifts for Swimmers
Swimming is something I have a love hate relationship with. My love is breast stroke, and my nemesis is freestyle (front crawl for my UK brethren). However it was 2014 when I took swim lessons with Bob and realized just how freakin' hard swimming could be, because you think you can swim till your instructor tells you you've been doing it wrong all this time. Needless to say swimming is a sport I have a newfound respect for and as such have a lot of 'swim stuff', so I thought I'd share my Fitmas …
5 Essential planning tools for 2016
Often around this time I get a case of the Winter blues. The weather changes, the days are much shorter and I feel that transition between the seasons deep to my core. I've talked about this before here, and more recently here. However, if there is one thing I LOVE about Winter, it's the New Year! I love New Years. It's like the slate of the year past is wiped clean and you get a brand new start. As a planner, list maker and general organizing freak, I love it, because I get to set new goals, …
Review: Amy’s Thai Red Curry
Being on vacation recently was the perfect opportunity to indulge a little. We drank, we ate, we were merry. I know for some vacationing in a Condo might not sounds like a good idea because you still have to cook and clean (occasionally) but I loved having breakfast on the lanai right by the ocean, being able to prepare our own snacks and drinks at anytime. Plus you can't beat the fact that it's more convenient and cheaper. We did eat out too but most meals were had in the condo which meant …
Quick and easy body fat measuring
Accountability is HUGE for weight management and fat loss, and I'm going to admit that I haven't been the best at tracking fitness, weight or fat percentage over the last year. I've been following the more intuitive method of just seeing how my clothes felt, how my body looked naked, and how I felt. That served me well for my 2015 goal of becoming a Registered Yoga Teacher, however for my 2016 goal of bikini competitor that is NOT gonna cut it. I need to know numbers. I'm a big believer in Karma …
