Today I want to share my review of Jinkys, located at 1724 E Avenida De Los Arboles Thousand Oaks, CA 91362. Basically it’s where our favorite Indian restaurant used to be before it burned down, then reopened for a few months and closed again.
Now I’ve been to Jinkys a few times with Julie but on this occasion I went with Bob. Jinkys is probably the closest place to us that has a BIG selection of vegan and vegetarian foods, almost every dish can be made vegetarian or vegan with the substitution of a gardien patty for just $1 extra. Bob chose to go with:
HEALTHY QUINOA BURGER . . . . . . . . .10.99
housemade quinoa patty on a wheat bun with tzatziki sauce on the side
He said the burger was a little squishy. I looked good though, very healthy indeed. Not so much with the tzatziki but hey it’s better than ranch dressing!
In the times I’ve been to Jinkys I’ve had a few dishes including:
VIVA LAS VEGAN (NO EGGS) . . . . . . . . . . . .10.99
tofu, wild rice, black beans, zucchini, mushrooms, red & yellow bell peppers, onions, and garlic-chili sauce
MUNG BEANS AND RICE (no raita). . . . . . .10.99
Organic mung beans and rice cooked with diced red onions, tomatoes, cilantro, red and yellow bell peppers, fresh garlic and ginger sautéed in extra virgin olive oil with cumin, turmeric and paprika tossed with white or brown rice, served with cucumber, tomato raita (Yogurt) and a side of fruit
On this occasion I chose my favorite:
QUINOA SALAD (no feta). . . . . . .10.99
Oddly not on their online menu! This salad has quinoa, artichoke hearts and tomatoes on a bed of baby lettuce topped with almonds and in an olive oil and lemon dressing, with toasted almonds on top. Yummy!
Gotta say this is freakin’ delicious!!!! I love this salad! Sometimes I get a gardien patty ontop for $1 extra, and sometimes I just get a side of sweet potato fries, which are also excellent btw! Definitely love the food at Jinkys. Julie and I try to get there once a week for lunch. If you do go, Matt is a great server!
Are you meatfree on Mondays?
