Mandala Coloring Pages to save your sanity

March 1, 2021 //  by Di Hickman//  9 Comments

February was pretty rough. Whether it was pandemic exhaustion, mercury retrograde, or just plain burn out, I had almost three weeks of a deep ‘funk’. When I say that creativity can save your sanity I am NOT kidding. Case in point would be how my mandala coloring pages came to the rescue to calm me down yesterday.

Saturday my dog, began whining. Nothing unusual, as he does this a lot for his food. Only, what he was actually telling me was that he needed a potty break. Badly! He then had a dog butt explosion, all over my office rug. Bottom-line (no pun intended) Pixel is fine, but the rug is totaled! Because of this, and Pixel’s history of colitis, I slept super lightly Saturday night. I was just waiting for any indication of Pixel needing another emergency bathroom break.

Fast forward to Sunday morning on our walk, and I am really into a podcast when my earbuds just stop working. Even though they were fully charged.  Mildly annoyed now, I arrive home and notice the kitchen sink is backed up a little. Further investigation reveals the dishwasher is blocked and the bottom is full of water. So there I am Sunday morning, elbow-deep in the dishwasher, when I hear the sound every dog owner knows only too well. The retching of a dog as he’s about to vomit. On my living room rug.

At that point, to say that I was over life would be an understatement. While I really try to see the positive, humorous side, sometimes life just throws too much at you. So what did I do? Rather than get bogged down into a funk again, I made myself a cup of tea and retreated to my now rug-less office. Then I sat down to color. When my husband tried to talk to me, I simply told him that if he wanted to remain married he needed to walk away, close the door and JUST LET ME COLOR.

The irony of me coloring in a “good vibes only” page when I was close to losing my mind was not lost on me! Thankfully, Pixel is doing ok, my living room rug is washable, dishwasher is unblocked and, I am still holding onto my sanity. For now!

Free Mandala Coloring Pages

Anyway, onto this month’s free printable coloring Page. It’s a twofer. Meaning you get two pages this month! One mandala coloring page, and the same page but with “good vibes only” wording. Because I was indecisive about whether the pages should have wording or not I decided to give you both.

Consider this a treat (much like December), and my way of giving back and hoping to help in someone’s hour of need. If you find life getting a little too much eek out some space and time for yourself, sit and color. It has many of the same benefits as meditation, and you can do it with the family or alone in your room (barricading the door is optional).

Each month you’ll get a new coloring page freebie plus updates from me about yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and positivity. All spun from personal stories we can all grown and learn from.

Want more Mandala coloring pages?

If you like the coloring page freebies and want more then check out my Etsy store! I have three more sets of mandala coloring pages available. With 10 designs and 20 pages in each set. 10 pages with just the mandala and 10 with motivational words or a quote.

With 60 mandala coloring pages to choose from you won’t be short of ways to save your sanity on your next stressful day! If symmetry is more your style I also have a geometric coloring page book with 32 designs to color and create. This book is available to purchase as a paperback on Amazon or as a printable on Etsy.

I also like coloring pages. I began to use them after surgery about 3 years ago. I couldn’t go in for sports or walk in the street and had to be at home about 2 months. They were by best friends in boring days.

I’m sorry to hear your February was so bad! Mine wasn’t very good, but it wasn’t terrible. In the past, when life has gotten heavier and heavier on my shoulders, I have also turned to things such as colouring to completely block out everything and just focus on something calming, but still active. It really works wonders!

What a rough day! When I get in a funk I always turn to extra mediation to help me refocus and stay in the moment.

I am actually sitting here trying to remember the last time that I did any kind of coloring at all. Maybe when my daughter was a lot younger and I had to show her how to color.
