Cruelty free beauty box unboxing – Feb 2017

February 22, 2017 //  by Di Hickman//  50 Comments

Thanks to Valentine’s Day everyone thinks of February as a month of love. Love for your spouse, partner, kids, best friend, teacher, students. pets and basically others. However most of us forget the one person we should love the most… OURSELVES. If you really love yourself you’ll care about the food you eat and the products you use on your face. It’s always amazing to me that some people are so good about eating healthy organic food, yet covering their skin (the body’s biggest organ) in chemicals. Show your skin, and body some love with natural products. Like the ones in the Vegan Cuts Cruelty free beauty box.

Cruelty Free Beauty Box

Yes, there is a monthly subscription box for a 100% cruelty free beauty box that’s mostly organic and natural. The Vegan Cuts cruelty free beauty box contains 4-7 products and has a retail value of $40-$60 (sometimes more). It contains no single use sachets, has free shipping to the U.S. and you can cancel at anytime. None of the products contain parabens. I’ve seen so many parents over the last few years blogging about switching to BPA free containers etc due to health concerns. Yet the parents still using products directly on their skin that have the exact same chemical compounds. If you wouldn’t cook food in it, drink it, or eat it why put it on your skin?

Unboxing the February 2017 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box

Getting a subscription box is a great way to build your beauty and skincare products, and this one being mostly natural and organic means you can transition to a more loving and compassionate self-care routine gradually, rather than making the switch cold tofurky. I’ve been a subscriber of the Vegan Cuts Cruelty Free Beauty Box for almost two years, and I love it. During that time I’ve found some amazing brands that I have grown to love and I’m excited to see one of them in this month’s box! We all tend to gravitate to our favorites right? So let’s dive in with one of my favorites.

VC cruelty free beauty box feb 2017

Eye Shadow Trio – Emani (Tango)

Back in May 2015 in my first Cruelty Free beauty box I received an Emani eye brow trio, and let me tell you that I freaking LOVE that thing! I had never used a brow shaper of any kind so it took some getting used to. WOW what a difference it makes. In the February 2017 box there is another Emani product, this time an eye shadow trio. It has three color options called “Tango” to help your makeup transition from day to night easily. Why do I love Emani? Well their products are amazing, but also free from parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, and GMOs. Plus it’s completely made in the USA, and the pigmentation is truly fantastic! I cannot gush enough about this brand. This full size eyeshadow trio has a $20 value.

Lip Scrub – The Ariel Co. (Cupid)

Can I be 100% honest for a moment? Until I’d subscribed to this beauty box I’d never used a lip scrub. Now I use one 1-2 times a week as part of my skincare regimen. I didn’t know what I was missing! This lip scrub called Cupid, literally smells and tastes just like cotton candy bubblegum! Not kidding. Yes, I tasted it. It’s 100% natural, so tasting is a perk. I’ve also used their hair mask, which is equally as awesome. This 1/3 oz jar has a $9 value.

Toothpaste – Oral Essentials

If you’re concerned about chemicals in beauty and skincare, fluoride may be a red flag. In which case check your toothpaste and dental care products. This fluoride-free whitening toothpaste from Oral Essentials uses a blend of essential oils and dead sea salt to whiten teeth without harming enamel. I’m looking forward to trying this as it doesn’t contain: hydrogen peroxide, fluoride, baking soda, artificial flavors or SLS. The only concern I have with this is that it contains Xylitol which is toxic to dogs so ensure this gets nowhere near Fido! Although I’m pretty sure a tube full of regular toothpaste wouldn’t be the best thing for dogs either, so… This deluxe sample has a retail value of $4.

Leave-In Hair Treatment – ColorPHlex

If there is something I LOVE getting in these boxes it’s eye creams, face masks and hair treatments. Seriously if Vegan Cuts did JUST a skincare box I’d subscribe in a heartbeat. This is a leave-in treatment specifically designed to detangle and condition color-treated hair. Oh boy, they know me so well. As I’ve aged my skin and hair have gotten so much drier. My long hair gets full of tangles so easily now.  I love leave in conditioners, because, as much as I love taking care of myself I’m also lazy. This 1 fl oz deluxe sample has a $3.99 value

Lip Balm – Crazy Rumors (Chocolate Strawberry)

This is the third Crazy Rumors lip balm I’ve had and boy do I love them! I have one in my gym bag (plum/apricot), one in my office drawer (cinnamon bun) and now I have a third! This one is in chocolate strawberry and boy does it smell like it. If you’re English it literally smells like Cadbury’s roses, chocolate strawberry. Serious! We used to have Rose’s assorted chocolates every Christmas at our house when I was young, or Quality Street. Bob and I demolished a couple of tins one Winter, after a trip back to the UK, plus I’ve also bought boxes back for friends. These lip balms are AMAZING, and have 100% natural ingredients. Enough said. This full size product has a $3.99 value.

Toner – Herbal Transdermal

This was a new brand that I hadn’t tried before, so that’s exciting. One reason I love these subscription boxes, they do the legwork for you. This is a deep pore mineral toner with grapefruit to clean skin. Again no chemicals in this product, it’s 100% natural, organic, eco-friendly and vegan. As it says on the container “what goes on your skin, goes in your body”. Also, this toner contains no alcohol so it’s not going to dry out your skin. This 2 fl oz deluxe sample has a $3 retail value.

VC cruelty free beauty box feb 2017

All in all this months cruelty free beauty box  from Vegan Cuts was another major hit for me. The highlight of this box for me though is the eyeshadow trio. Seriously if you haven’t tried Emani you need to, they are so good! Most noteworthy is that this box has a retail value of $43.98 and I only paid $18.50 so I’m super happy. What a bargain! Vegan Cuts has many subscription options so there is something for every budget. Definitely recommend checking them out. If beauty isn’t your thing they also do a fabulous cruelty free snack box!

Why not make the switch to natural products? Sign up now to get your March cruelty free beauty box, and you’ll be on your way to a more compassionate self care routine in no time. Cruelty free isn’t just about being kind to animals, but also being kind to yourself.

[tweetthis]Ever thought about the chemicals in skincare, makeup and beauty products you are using?[/tweetthis]

Questions:

What would be your favorite product from the February Cruelty Free Beauty Box?

Do you use a lip scrub?

Have you used an eyebrow shadow or pencil?

That lip scrub looks interesting. Some great products in the box. Will have to hunt around and see if I can find them in Australia.

Yes, quite a while ago I read a book about chemicals in beauty products. I think it was around the same time I was pregnant with my oldest. Overnight I essentially stopped wearing any makeup and started to religiously use EWG’s Skin Deep database. This looks like a fun subscription box!
