Body Sport fitness ball review

April 12, 2015 //  by Di Hickman//  Leave a Comment

I love working out at home, and it’s one of the reasons I do my weekly workout videos, because I know that other people also workout at home and need guidance, inspiration and motivation. When I got the opportunity to receive a fitness ball by Body Sport in exchange for a review I jumped at the opportunity. I already have a ball but it’s slightly too big for me, perfect for my training clients and Bob but a little large for me, so this would be perfect! I did a video review which you can see below or on my youtube channel.

So straight out of the box you get: Instructions; a packet containing an extra stopper, stopper removing tool, and measure; exercise chart; pump; and the ball. It’s pretty compact in the box, but it’s like the Tardis in Dr Who, small on the outside, ends up large. The box is pretty heavy too.

Once I set all the pieces aside I set about inflating it. Usually this is a job that I’d get Bob to do, but as I was doing this for a review I decided that I’d set about doing it all myself. This took a while…

Inflating the ball took longer than anticipated because the pump wasn’t great. The blue hose flew off multiple times, the connector broke and generally it was not a pleasant experience. I wish I’d read the instruction booklet too, because then I’d have noticed the tape measure properly. I was supposed to put this around the ball BEFORE inflating then inflated the ball to the fit of the measure. This is a great feature and not something I’ve noticed in other brands of ball I’ve come across. However about 8 minutes later I got the ball inflated.

It was a good size for me. I got the green one which is 55cm and sized to fit me at 5’4″. It did fit perfectly. If you’re sitting on the ball you want to have your knees level with the hips, thighs parallel to the floor. The height on this one was perfect which meant I could use this for sitting at my desk too, while I write blog posts… like this one.

As mentioned the product comes with an exercise chart which more a poster really. This contains warm up, strength and core work for a total body workout. I used some of the exercises in my video review.

As you can see below it was pretty challenging and fun to workout with the fitness ball. I enjoyed using it and the ball was pretty solid. No slipping, no squeaky noises, and it held my weight. It’s reported to hold up to 500lbs so shouldn’t really have an issue with my 125lbs really, lol.

In all the fitness ball worked really well and I enjoyed working out with it. It was pretty vibrant color, sturdy, not slippy and I definitely got a great workout from it. The only negative isn’t with the ball but with the pump. I gave it 4 out of 5 as a review because of the pump. If there were two of you pumping the ball up it probably wouldn’t be so much of a problem but on your own it’s pretty tough when the hose and connectors keep flying off.

You can purchase the fitness ball at Amazon (affiliate link). I will have a workout coming Wednesday with the fitness ball so make sure to pop back for that!!!! More reviews coming soon for baking, fitness and more! Meatless Monday tomorrow though so it’s all about the groceries and vegan food!
