I did a previous review on Soy Joy bars, taste tasting the Blueberry and Banana flavors. The folks at SoyJoy saw the review on Twitter and asked me if I wanted to try their newest flavor - PINEAPPLE! Yes please! I love all fruits and pineapple is definitely in the top 3 (level with kiwi fruit, yum! Those wondering banana and strawberry are my top two). After I sent the folks at SoyJoy my contact info a couple of days later I received a box in the mail :) The box contained TWO pineapple …

Hiking & Geocaching: Chumash Trail
After our two recent hiking and geocaching trips we decided to make another weekend afternoon geocache hike, this time along Chumash Trail. This was a 5 mile hike without the dogs. Initially I was hesitant not taking the dogs, I like to get them out and about as much as possible but during the hike I realized that not taking them was a good thing. Much of the trail was hilly, rocky, dusty and uneven, but some was also flanked with dry grass on either side and our dogs are grass seed magnets. …
El Mirage: Camping, biking & Geo-Crashing
We've been trying for ages to get out in the RV again, and out to the desert on the dirtbikes, so after failing in March we were finally able to get out last weekend. Thursday night I finished work and we pretty much ate, finished loading the RV and headed straight out to the desert :) Fun times ahead! Bright and early Friday morning we woke to this... Beautiful huh? We love this place, just so stunning! Being in the RV is the best way to enjoy this place, at a 2+ hour drive it's not to be …
Spinning Playlist #3
I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, and I like my spin classes to reflect that. I’ve had great feedback from classes regarding my music and I’m always open to trying different songs, different styles and mixes. The Spinning Playlist #3 features songs new and old, and from genres ranging from rap, rock, dance and metal! I think this also means that there is something for EVERYONE on every playlist I create. When I create new playlists I try to keep a few songs the same, so you may see a …
Great way to combat dog obesity
The WSJ reported recently that the newest obese Americans are PETS! A staggering 50% of pets are overweight and 1 in 5 are classified as obese! It seems that not content with making ourselves overweight and obese we are now inflicting the same statistics onto our pets. The main culprit: owners who routinely overfeed pets, don't exercise them enough and are unaware of the severe, and costly, health problems caused by excess weight. Common woes include diabetes, arthritis, kidney failure, …
10 Reasons I love AFAA
AFAA wasn't my first fitness certification. It was a "newcomer on the block" to England back in the mid 90's when I was entering my fitness career. I wanted to get my AFAA as it was the only Personal Trainer certification in our area at the time. Back then certifications were few and far between, unlike now where everyone and their mother are holding PT certs! Anyway I decided on AFAA and attended the one day workshop to attain my group exercise instructor certification. Then 3 months later took …
Spinning Playlist – #2
I mentioned last month that part of my new blog format is helping instructors out a little, providing tips, tricks, info and playlists. As such I decided it would be fun to provide a Spinning playlist each month. I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, and I like my spin classes to reflect that. I’ve had great feedback from classes regarding my music and I’m always open to trying different songs, different styles and mixes. The spinning playlist #2 features songs new and old, and from genres …
Spinning Playlist #1
Part of my new blog format is helping instructors out a little, providing tips, tricks, info and playlists. As such I thought it would be fun to provide a playlist each month. The spinning playlist #1 is a refined version of the first playlist I did back in May 2010. I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, and I like my spin classes to reflect that. I've had great feedback from classes regarding my music and I'm always open to trying different songs, different styles and mixes. This mix …
