Bird Coloring Page Printable for Adults – Freebie

August 1, 2021 //  by Di Hickman//  Leave a Comment

Last month, a pair of finches decided our porch light was the perfect place to set up home for a while. When Bob left for his work trip there were four eggs. 16 days later when he came back, the nest was empty. They’d hatched, fledged, and left. The last 14 days of seeing these chicks hatch, and growing from blind alien-like beings to curious (and ravenous) chicks have been a valuable lesson about our current life situation. And also the inspiration for this month’s Bird Coloring Page Printable.

You see while my husband was out of town on business I had the best of plans to get a lot done. Then out of nowhere, bam. We got the news that his job may be relocating to Florida. Currently, we’re in limbo. I don’t do well in limbo. To say that the last couple of weeks has been a struggle is an understatement. It’s been a challenge to get motivated when so much of the future is unknown. Just when I felt like things were progressing, and I could plan again, this news comes and pulls the rug from underneath us.

Day by day, as the chicks grew they began to test their wings. Leaving the nest must be scary, venturing into the unknown. Last weekend. I saw the last chick perched on the edge of the nest tentatively wondering should they fly off or stay in the comfort of their nest. You could see the indecision. Should they follow their siblings and parents, off into the wild?  Right now, I can’t help but feel a lot like that chick. Regardless of whether we stay or go, right now we’re perched on the ledge. Testing our wings, researching our options, and yet also carrying on regardless. Because if there is one constant in life, it’s change. Thanks to you little chick for your valuable life lesson. And I hope, that you, or your family, come back again next year.
