Each time we visit London we indulge in all the good vegan food London has to offer. Trying all the things. Taking all the photos and barely ever sharing aside from a social media post that gets buried. However after the last trip, one of my friends shared that she almost texted me for recommendations. On behalf of her niece who was visiting London. She was the only vegan in the group and needed some restaurant recommendations. And thus this post was formed to share what I’ve found to be the best vegan food in London. With the disclaimer of “so far”. Because we still have a bunch of places we want to try on our next visit!

Many of these places are vegan restaurants because that’s our preference if we’re out eating. However, that’s not always possible depending on location and your dining crew. So in this list of best vegan food in London there are some vegetarian and “cater to all” restaurants. I thoroughly appreciate that so many places in the UK now are catering to vegans. The popularity of vegan dishes on menus has exploded in the UK over the last 2 years. I cannot wait for the USA to catch up! I put together a video for those wanting more photos to drool over. You can check it out below, or on my YouTube channel, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe!
I was debating on whether to go from my favorite down but honestly there are a few top favorites. Places we’ve been to that we’d go again and again (and have!). Plus it would change depending on the kind of food we were hankering for. So let’s get on with the list of, in our opinion so far and in no particular order, the best vegan food in London.

Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Kitchen
For me hands down this place was the best vegan food in London from our 2019 trip. This is not the place to go if you’re looking for a healthy salad, or want to stay on your diet. This place has vegan junk food that will make you wonder how the heck they do it. Seriously cannot rave enough about this place. Camden is the place to be for vegans in London. So much choice, and this should be top of your list IMO. The milkshakes are to die for!

Temple of Seitan/Camden
With multiple locations and affectionately called “temple” this place is the bomb diggity. We managed to sneak in a trip to the Camden location this year and will definitely be back on our future trips. This place sells the wheat meat Seitan in different forms. My favorite is the chicken, which I can only assume is like vegan KFC! Seriously good, and really good value for money. We’ll definitely be back on our future trips.

222 Vegan Cuisine
We first discovered 222 during out 2017 trip and have been back each time we visit London. I can only attest to their lunchtime buffet which is amazing. Real food, all vegan, and all you can eat. What more could you want? Dessert? That’s extra, but so delicious. I highly recommend the chocolate cake.

Green King Pub
One thing I love about the UK is the pub grub. You can find lots of vegan options in many of the chain pubs. From vegan fish & chips, to bake potatoes and burgers. However our favorite this trip was the Mushroom & Ale pie from the Green King pubs. With locations all over the UK and a few in the heart of London we hit the jackpot with this dish. So much so that we had it twice during our last trip! I’d say this was the best vegan food in London from a non-vegan establishment.

What the Pitta
When Bob and I were first dating, our Saturday nights were usually spent in the city center. Drinking in pubs, dancing in clubs and a walking home together with chips or doner kebab. That’s all still available with a plant based twist. In Camden “What the Pitta” have perfected the vegan doner kebab!

Wagamamas
We’ve had a few visits to Wagamamas and would highly recommend it as somewhere to go if you’re with a group of non vegans. They have a bunch of vegan options, and we’ve tried a few of them. I still find the whole seating arrangement in Wagamamas kind of weird, but the food is delicious.

Mooshies
Sometimes vegan options can be somewhat limited. You’re either full on health food or total junk. For me Mooshies falls somewhere in the middle. It’s a burger joint but made from wholesome foods. Plus who doesn’t love sweet potato fries? If you’re looking for a delicious treat they try the vegan mozzarella sticks!

Govindas
Indian restaurants are always a good option for vegans and vegetarians, however some still use butter in their dishes so you have to be mindful. However in London there is Govindas. A Hare Krishna restaurant, with a karma-free kitchen. They have a vegan Thali that is great and very well priced. If you love indian food then Govindas is worth a stop by.

Mildred’s
Whether you’re looking to sit down and have a nice dinner or grab a quick bite for lunch Mildreds is the place to go. With a few locations in London, and an extensive menu you’ll find something to suit all tastes. Also, highly recommend the desserts! Great atmosphere, and one I’d highly recommend for the best vegan food in London.

Purezza
While many pizza places are offering vegan options now, there is a vegan pizzeria in London, Purezza, that is worth a visit. Another great vegan option if you’re in Camden (I swear Camden is like the vegan mecca of London). This place is SUPER BUSY to be prepared to book a table or wait. All types of vegan pizza, lasagne, desserts and more on offer here. Worth it for peace of mind that your pizza is vegan.

Zizi: Italian Restaurant
We visited Zizi last year for our wedding anniversary. With restaurants all over the UK they have a few places in London that would be great for taking vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike. All Italian fare, all real food, and delicious. Great option for eating with a non-vegan group.

Cafe Forty One: Afternoon Tea
Last year we stayed north of Hyde Park and discovered Cafe Forty One. A plant based hotel and restaurant with lots of options, including their vegan afternoon tea. A traditional English afternoon tea with fingers sandwiches, scones (including vegan cream!), desserts, tea and a glass of bubbly. Definitely a traditional experience with a vegan twist.

Coach & Horses Vegan Pub
Last on the list is the vegan pub “the coach & horses”. They kitchen was under construction during our latest trip, but located in the heart of London they are super convenient, delicious, and you can get your pub grub with a beer! The best thing about this place is that all the food is vegan, and you get to experience an London Pub that dates back to 1730’s.
