San Francisco Asian Art Museum vs MOMA

April 27, 2018 //  by Di Hickman

On my visit to San Francisco last month I knew one of the things I wanted to do was visit some museums and art galleries. When preparing for any trip Google is your friend. Find your location on Google maps then type in "art gallery" or "museum" and suggestions should pop up. Two of the places that popped up for the area we stayed at were the Asian Art Museum and the Museum of Modern Art [MOMA]. After looking at the website I knew I wanted to go to both, as a yoga teacher Asian art is …

San Francisco: Pier 39, Aquarium & Embarcadero

April 24, 2018 //  by Di Hickman

When I visited San Francisco back in 1998 one of the things I vividly remember was the Sea Lions at Pier 39. Naturally this was the first place I wanted to revisit when I found myself in March exploring San Francisco alone. After googling directions I planned my route, via Union Square, Chinatown, Washington Square and finally Pier 39 and the Embarcadero. It was a 1.8 mile walk and should take around 40 minutes. Union Square Maybe my memory is failing, it's possible I'm 46, but I remember …

Exploring San Francisco alone

April 16, 2018 //  by Di Hickman

My word for 2018 is explore. Never have I embraced a word as much as I have this year. When Bob initially told me he was attending a conference in San Francisco my initial reaction was "ok, see ya!". But, something was grating at me. Bob mentioned I could tag along. Should I? He'd be at lectures and workshops all day, so I'd be on my own with a big city to explore! Hello word! So I purchased a plane ticket, and spent a week exploring San Francisco alone. Exploring San Francisco Alone While Bob …

Eating Vegan in San Francisco

April 9, 2018 //  by Di Hickman

In March Bob went to a conference in San Francisco, and while he had the trip booked a while in February I decided to bite the bullet and go with him. It's been 20 years since I went and I figured it was a good opportunity to take some R & R. We stayed at the beautiful Adagio Hotel, a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel, which is just two block West of Union Square. Bob would be at the conference during the day, so I busied myself doing all the tourist things exploring the city and …

Explore – How one word changed my outlook for 2018

December 30, 2018 //  by Di Hickman

In December 2017 when I decided my guiding word for 2018 was explore, I really had no idea what lay ahead for me and how my word would impact my life. In all I took 5 trips in 9 months. I've said yes to new exciting opportunities and adventures,  explored new relationships and experiences and been more open to trying new things. 2018 has truly been a year of travel, adventure and exploration. As the the year comes to a close, I am struck by how this year is different, how I am different. …

Yoga for back pain relief

June 23, 2018 //  by Di Hickman

Back in March, before our San Francisco trip, I injured my back. I had debilitating pain for a whole week causing limited movement and a realization that this is why people get hooked on pain meds. It's not an exaggeration to say that I could literally barely do anything. Sitting can hurt. Standing can hurt. Laying down was ok for me.  But only in a few positions,  and no turning over! Simple tasks like brushing my teeth were excruciatingly painful. In yoga training we teacht two simple …

Aquarium of the Bay vs California Academy of Sciences

May 25, 2018 //  by Di Hickman

In the final installment of my San Francisco trip tales I'm going to compare and contrast The Aquarium of the Bay with the California academy of Sciences. Both of these attractions are part of the CityPASS, so let's consider the admission and travel costs as even. Which is better value? Of the two, which has more to see? And ultimately if you could only visit one which would I recommend? Aquarium of the bay Located at the infamous Pier 39 The Aquarium of the Bay is one of San Francisco's …

Gardein Sweet and Tangy Pita Pocket

Gardein Sweet & Tangy Pita Pocket

May 7, 2018 //  by Di Hickman

Since our trip to San Francisco I've been a little obsessed with pita's. The Flying Falafel in San Francisco really reminded me how awesome a pita can be for a quick tasty lunch. Pita's are like having a sandwich, but everything is contained. Meaning it's way less messy! I've been throwing all manner of things into a pita lately, and seeing what tasty combinations I can come up with. So when Mambo Sprouts asked if I wanted to do some *Gardein Grill Recipes I jumped at the chance because we …
