hiit the game stack 52 review

New card game is a hiit!

June 14, 2015 //  by Di Hickman

It's important to make fitness fun and one way to do that is to turn it into a game. Enter HIIT the Game by Stack 52. HIIT is an acronym for high intensity interval training, something I used to do a lot years ago but as I've been plagued with minor injuries that have kept me from high impact exercises I haven't done hiit for a while. The idea is that you do short but intense workouts giving 80-90% effort in short interval workouts. Studies have shown that interval workouts like HIIT burn fat, …

15 minute med ball HIIT workout

July 30, 2014 //  by Di Hickman

Happy Wednesday! Workout Wednesday! So yep another workout, another video, another workout breakdown. This weeks workout is a medicine ball workout and I was given a med ball to review from Rep Fitness, so look for that review coming soon. I'll be doing more videos, and more med ball workouts soon. I was sweating buckets after this workout, and my arms were shaking so I'd say the 14lb med ball did it's job! The workout has 4 exercises, each having 45 seconds of work followed by 15 seconds …

12 minute HIIT workout

July 23, 2014 //  by Di Hickman

Wow this one was a tough one! I've been wanting to do more cardio lately, as I have a 5K race coming up in August and honestly I need to more more high intensity cardio rather than just spinning which I seem to have a lot of lately. If you try this workout you'll see that all you need is 12-15 minutes! Seriously, just workout as  hard as you can in those 12 minutes and you are DONE. I was a hot sweaty mess after this workout, though I was doing it outside in 97 ° beautiful sunshine! The …

10 minute HIIT workout

June 25, 2014 //  by Di Hickman

WORKOUT WEDNESDAY and I feel all accomplished and ahead because I got this video DONE, edited and up on youtube by Tuesday afternoon! Look at me go when I'm on my game ;) Anyway this workout is a 10 minute video of interval training. On the video you'll see I did 20 seconds low intensity followed by 20 seconds  high intensity version of the exercise, then 10 seconds rest before moving onto the next exercise. That means this workout is TEN minutes! Now if you aren't ready for 20 seconds high …

5 best agility cone drills for non boring cardio

June 14, 2017 //  by Di Hickman

It's no secret that I'm not a fan of steady state cardio. If you really enjoy the monotony of pounding the pavement, then sure go ahead and run. But unless your goal is to run a marathon, steady state cardio is doing you no favors. If you want a great cardio workout that is going to torch calories, improve your cardio and provide fun, then I suggest agility cone drills. If fat loss is your goal then HIIT (high intensity interval training) is where it's at. Intervals are my favorite …

Fire the Posterior Chain – Interval workout #4

February 15, 2017 //  by Di Hickman

There are a lot of at home workout options available online and trying to decide what works for you is important. One thing I noticed however in a lot of home workouts available is the lack of focus on the posterior chain. Lots of push ups and crunches but not much for the backside of the body, upper/lower back and the glutes/hamstrings. Let's fix that shall we? Let's fire up the posterior chain with this week's workout. Interval workout #4 from my free 31 day bootcamp. I’ve already …

15-Minute Mat Pilates Workout for Beginners

June 16, 2016 //  by Di Hickman

While HIIT is a great way to increase fitness, one question I get asked a lot, in person and in the blog comments, is "what to do if you're a beginner"? High impact or high-intensity workouts are great for fat burning but they aren't really suitable for beginners. Or maybe you're working around an injury, there are workouts you can continue to do in order to y fit. I suggest something less intense, like this 15 minute Mat Pilates Workout! Did you know that Pilates was originally created …
