12 minute strength & cardio workout

12 minute interval hiit workout 20140527

Well this week is a nice change from recent weeks! I actually got the workout video done YESTERDAY. In the blistering heat still, but it got done 😉 I was a little sore too doing this workout as I did heavy deadlifts Monday so my legs were a bit tight on the squats and lunges, but I got it done. Remember if you want to get the videos straight away subscribe to my youtube channel!  The full video is below:

The first exercise is a PRISONER SQUAT. Now why is it called a prisoner squat? Well I assume for the arm position, hands on your head punk! Ok seriously hands on your head, fingertips to your temples and pull your shoulders back. This will work the upper back and shoulders and help improve posture. 10 reps.

Up next is alternating FORWARD LUNGE with the arms held at a “W” position. Again this works the upper back. Todays society means we’re all stooped over desks and computers so let’s try to improve that posture! 10 reps each leg.

Third exercise is an OBLIQUE V-UP. Lying on your side, put your legs out in front so they are at an angle from the body, bottom arm along the floor, top hand resting at the temple, now bring your legs up and your elbow towards your knees. We’re going to do 10 reps then change sides.

Finally it’s a timed exercise, 50 seconds of cardio burning with MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS. Urgh! This seemed like a good idea at the time 😉 On the hands and toes in a push up position then bring one knee in and quickly switch. Feel the burn… 50 seconds is a LONG time!

And that’s this weeks workout. In the video I did the whole thing 3 times, but feel free to do more/less depending on how much time you have. Remember to modify where necessary too!

Comment below if you tried the workout or have suggestions for future workout videos!
