I shared on instagram this weekend the unboxing of the April Vegan Cuts beauty box and it occurred to me I didn’t post on my blog with the amazing products I got this month. April was another great month as I got some really fun beauty, skincare and makeup products to add to my stash. As much as I like 99% of the products I get in the Vegan Cuts beauty box, I’ve had a few that have really caught my attention. This month it’s finding Ayurvedic Skin Care products.

Just incase you’re curious yes, this is ALL cruelty free makeup and skincare. No animals were harmed making the products in this box. Can you say the same about products you’re currently using? If not, maybe it’s time to change! Vegan Cuts delivers this box of goodies every month right to your doorstep. They have multiple subscription options. Each box has a retail value of $40-$60 but the real value is knowing you’re being kind to your skin and the animals. The April 2017 beauty box contained 6 products with a total value over $46! Let’s unbox shall we?
Unboxing the April 2017 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box
Face Mask by Granola Goat
This “green with envy” face mask contains spirulina sourced from Hawaii, and is enriched with proteins and antioxidants to help calm irritated skin. Just four ingredients in this face mask: spirulina, organic quinoa, french green clay and patchouli essential oil. I loved this face mask, and my skin really appreciated the attention as it’s been ‘problematic’ lately. Hormones are flaring and my skin breaks out during these times, yes even at 45 I still get occasional zits. Not fair! Hoping the skin care in this beauty box helps. The face mask has a $6 Value and is a deluxe sample size.
Body Scrub by Naked Scrubs
As mentioned above my skin has been problematic. I used to have oily skin, now it’s flipped and is so dry! This has been compounded with windy and warm weather here. I’m slathering on bodylotion but I know that this handcrafted exfoliating body scrub is going to help bigtime! Again simple ingredients: Sugar, lemon zest/juice, oils (apricot, olive, almond) and love! This scrub is a deluxe sample with a $5 Value. This felt SO GOOD on my skin. I loved that it has so few ingredients and it really made me think that I could easily make something like this at home… something to think about!
Essential Oil Blend by Love Jivana ayurvedic Skin Care
Ayurveda was one of my favorite parts of philosophy during my yoga teacher training. It’s an ancient method of natural medicine and healing, focusing on nutrition and nature. Ayurveda states that all organic and inorganic matter has unique intelligence. Out skin is said to be our “second brain” as it reflects what is happening inside our body. Allergic reactions, fevers, etc can show on your skin. Conversely what you put on your skin, gets absorbed and becomes you. This is the reason I chose to switch to natural, vegan products 2 years ago!
This Ayurvedic treatment oil has been created especially for Vegan Cuts, and is a tridoshic blend to stimulate the senses and stabilize the mind. It has a base of almond, jojoba, sunflower, grape seed and hemp seed oils. It’s infused with the following herbs: lavender to balance; rose to moisturize and inspire; aloe to calm and treat eruptions; neem for antisepsis; anantamul to promote clear complexion;and marshmallow to soothe.
I love that this is a roller applicator as it’s just so easy to apply. Really, I just cannot even begin to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed using this, and am looking forward to seek out other Ayurvedic Skin Care products by Jivana. This oil has an $8 Value. If you’re familiar with the doshas of Ayurveda I’m pitta-vata. I’m definitely getting more vata as I age, hence the dry skin, so the Ayurvedic skin care is something I definitely will be looking into in the future.
Skin Serum by Derma E
I swear it’s like Vegan Cuts reads my mind and knows exactly what I want each month! Literally down to the last few drops of the CocoKind skin serum I’ve been using (which I really like btw and would totally recommend), and I get this sample in my April box. I’ve used other products by Derma E and loved them (their night cream is amazing!) so I knew this was going to be another amazing product. I wasn’t disappointed. Plus they are local to me, so gotta support local.
This concentrated serum helps to brighten skin and boost collagen health, minimizing the look of fine lines and wrinkles, while improving the appearance of uneven skin tone. Sounds perfect for me, and I can’t wait to see if this becomes a regular in my skincare regime. This sample has a $7.50 value
Lip Crayon by PHB Ethical Beauty
The beauty box is skincare and makeup and this month we’re heavy on the skincare (not complaining, I LOVE skincare) but our makeup this month is a long lasting matte lip crayon, I received Tiger Lily tint. This product is certified vegan and leaping bunny approved. I’m super happy with this lip pencil as it’s an almost perfect match for a lip gloss received in a previous Vegan Cuts beauty box by Ofra “Laguna Beach”. The lip crayon has a $11 value
Deodorant by Schmidt’s
The weather is warming up here and as we move into tank top and short weather I know that deodorant will become a staple. Have you seen the nasty stuff they put in deodorant? This natural deodorant contains no artificial fragrance, no propylene glycol, and no aluminum. The scent is rose/vanilla and is definitely more rose than vanilla. I’ve been using this a couple of weeks now and love it. Doesn’t leave any residue or stain my clothing. Plus my body stays fresh smelling all day long. The only issue I have is my husband does not like the smell of roses, ooops. Thankfully it comes in different scents (also available on Amazon). This is a full size product with a $9 value
So there you have it. All six products in the April Beauty Box. Again the clear favorite for me was discovering the Ayurvedic Skin Care range by Jivana. I’ll be studying for my 500 hour yoga teacher training credential so Ayurveda is something we cover in the 200 and I hope to learn more in the 300. If not Ayurvedic skin care and overall health will be something I look into more on my own in the coming months. If you are interested in getting the Vegan Cuts beauty box check out their subscription offers, or their store for special single box deals.

I would love to try out the face mask! I love face masks, but I have to be careful because I have sensitive skin. I bet this would be great for that.

I have sensitive skin (one reason I switched to natural brands) and it’s not caused me any issues.

I have come across the word Ayurveda before but I haven’t gotten into reading more about it. I have also been warned about checking my deodorant if it contains aluminum then it is not good. I will check on this beauty box you featured in this post.
Di Hickman
Yep aluminum is not good on the body, or for cooking!

All these products look great. The green mask looks like so much fun. My eight year old daughter is really into beauty masks and I’m always very skeptical about what I allow her to use. This box looks like all the products would be suitable for her to share and not have me worrying about ingredients.
Di Hickman
EXACTLY! So many harsh chemicals we’re exposed to daily!
Roxanne
